As a privately owned NZ company La Villa employs 14 staff, and with dedication to strong leadership and direction, we support our team and encouraging growth in all areas.   • You'll earn more at La Villa, guaranteed. We have an industry leading commission structure, this is due to our unique and exclusive business model. Our hourly rate ranges from $33-$50+ and is uncapped. We share our profits with our staff so you have the benefits of being self employed but without the responsibility and stress. To us, happy staff means, happy clients and a happy thriving business!


  • Flexible hours - We encourage work-life balance for the well being of our staff. We offer a 4 day working week (35 - 40 hours for full time stylists) with every second Saturday off; this is unheard of in our industry! because you earn more with us, you can work 4 days and earn the same as what you would in 5 days in other salons. Please enquire about part time stylist hours as they work differently to the full time structure above.

  • Amazing training opportunities. Whether you want to learn new techniques or brush up on old skills, we will invest in you both personally and professionally and aid you to grow. In the last year we put our entire team of stylist through a blonde degree with the amazingly talented Kate Elderidge from Keune Australia. This was intensive blonde training which has allowed our team to take lightning work to the next level! In July 2020 we flew an internationally renowned trainer to join us an La Villa specializing in the latest balayage and foliage techniques, social media and photography and consultation work. In February 2020 we had Joel Bouzaid do a personalised seminar at La Villa on personal growth, mindset and key business techniques. We are so excited to be sending 2 of our stylists to London in September 2023 to complete an international colour masters degree!

We have a sister business Vixen and Luxe and Kristal who is the proud owner of La Villa and Vixen & Luxe is also a creative guest artist for Keune which invloves traveling nation wide showcasing new techniques and product launches. so we have opportunities for our team to travel, take part in photoshoots, events and industry competitions.

What is La Villa like to work for in an assistant role? (please note we are not currently looking for an assistant)


In one word… AWESOME! We appreciate our assistants hugely as these people are the the reason La Villa runs as smoothly as it does and it is also a huge part of why our clients are so well looked after. Our assistants are the first smiling face that our clients see, so this is a very important and well respected role and for this reason we are particular about who we employ in these positions.

What is involved or expected in an assistant role?

As an assistant at La Villa we offer an enjoyable an uplifting, fun and nurturing environment. Our assistants are required to be fast on their feet, great with multi-tasking skills, attention to detail and a customer service super star! Oh did a mention a sense of humor is a must, we work hard but we like a good ol’ laugh on the job!

This position includes the following:

  • greeting, seating and attending to our clients (beverages, coat taking and general client comfort)

  • assisting our stylists

  • detailed cleaning duties

  • desk duties, this may include reception and phone

  • stock take and shipping online orders

Please note training will be given before employment commences so you are ensured to feel confident and capable before you even start.
